The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (Â鶹´«Ã½) Class of 2025 achieved outstanding residency placement outcomes across all four campuses. This year's results reflect the continued success of Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s mission to educate globally minded, community-focused osteopathic physicians dedicated to serving rural and medically underserved populations.
Â鶹´«Ã½ achieved a combined final match rate of 99.6% across all campuses—out of 635 graduating DOs. Additionally, Â鶹´«Ã½ students achieved a combined initial match rate of 97%—which is significantly higher than the national average for all U.S. DO seniors (92.6%) and all U.S. MD seniors (93.5%).
A Strong Commitment to Primary Care
Primary care continues to be central to Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s mission, and this year’s match outcomes clearly affirm that focus. Across the four campuses, 63% of students matched into primary care specialties—Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and OB/GYN—with Â鶹´«Ã½-Louisiana leading the way at 66.9% primary care matches.
Internal Medicine was the most popular specialty overall, followed closely by Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and OB/GYN, all of which were strongly represented across campuses. These results underscore Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s role in addressing the national shortage of primary care physicians.
In addition to primary care, students matched into a wide range of specialties, including Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, and General Surgery, as well as competitive fields like Dermatology, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology, and Ophthalmology.
Regional Impact: Serving the Southeast and Appalachia
Â鶹´«Ã½ continues to fulfill its mission by placing graduates in the communities where they are most needed—particularly throughout the Southeastern U.S., the Appalachian region, and the Delta region.
- Â鶹´«Ã½-Auburn: 40 students matched in Alabama, with an additional 79 in neighboring Southeastern states.
- Â鶹´«Ã½-Carolinas: 66% of students matched in the Southeast; 64% in Appalachian states; 26% remained in South Carolina.
- Â鶹´«Ã½-Louisiana: 65 students matched into Delta region residencies, especially in Louisiana and Mississippi.
- Â鶹´«Ã½-Virginia: 76% matched in the Appalachian region, with nearly 34% placed within Virginia.
This strong regional match performance reflects Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s dedication to returning physicians to the communities that need them most.
In addition to regional service, Â鶹´«Ã½ proudly supports students who choose to serve their country through military medicine. A total of 38 students from the Class of 2025 matched into military residency programs, further exemplifying Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s values of service, leadership, and dedication to others.
